I like to give myself writing exercises. I come up with a topic, give myself a set amount of time, and then just write. I'm going to start doing this every
Sunday and i will post what i come up with on the
bloggity blog. For this first exercise i gave myself twenty minutes and the topic of love. here we go.
If love is just a game, then life is the arcade. In this arcade there are many games, all waiting anxiously for our quarters. But alas, father has only given us a handful of change. For this reason we enter into something that is more than just a game, it is now a journey, or more so a quest, a quest to find the right machine to dwindle our numbered coins with. so off you go, down the isles
tread by so many before. The carpet is stained by regret and heartbreak; or is that just spilt
soda and popcorn? never the less your journey on, until, eventually, you begin to try the vast selection of games; a coin here and a coin there
hoping you will stumble across the right game before your precious supply of coins runs dry. sometimes you get distracted, spending a few to many
trys on a game that
yields no tickets. But once your mistake is realized, you sally forth still looking for the game you were
meant to play.
Then, seemingly from no where, a new game appears. You
tentatively slide a coin into it's belly and begin to play. Nervously at first, but slowly you build confidence as you become
familiar with the game. so much so to the point that you play the game blindly. Knowing exactly what to do and how to do it. Slowly your cherished coins
diminish; but so wrapped up in this game are you that you hesitate not an instant to feed the beast. Coin by coin your pile vanishes until, finally, you beat the game with triumph, or you run out of
trys and have to walk away, eyes to the ground, defeated. Either way, it's game over.
So i guess love really is a game. Some needlessly spend their limited coins on whims and
wishes. Others wait patiently for "their game", only to be sent away with nothing more than a "thanks for playing". No matter what isle you choose to wander, or what game you choose to play, play smart. Because, eventually we all hit our own "game over".
